A woman accused of persuading her lover to murder her daughter seemed nonplussed about the girl’s death, a court has heard.

Kiki Muddar told paramedics that her “only concern was for her friend” after eight-year-old Ayesha Ali was found dead with more than 50 injuries at the home they shared in Broomfield Road, Chadwell Heath, on August 29, 2013.

When a paramedic expressed sadness, Muddar added that Ayesha was “always naughty” and “never makes her bed”, before describing her as a “problem child”.

In her phone call to the emergency services, the 43-year-old claimed that she had come home to find Ayesha’s mum, Polly Chowdhury, 35, lying in the bath with cut wrists after her daughter tried to drown her.

Chowdhury had left notes confessing to taking her life and killing her daughter.

These included a message to the fictitious Jimmy Chowdhury, a character that Muddar invented to control her girlfriend.

A post mortem revealed Ayesha’s cause of death as injuries to the head, with damage evident to the brain and around the optic nerve.

The Old Bailey heard that resuscitation was not attempted due to the condition she was in.

Prosecutor Richard Whittam QC said: “She was obviously dead and had obviously been dead for some time.”

Both women deny murder and alternative charges of manslaughter and causing or allowing the death of a child between March and August 2013.

Chowdhury’s estranged husband, Afsar Ali, will give evidence tomorrow.

The trial continues.
