Police have named the victims of a double killing in Ilford.
A police spokeswoman confirmed John Down, 86, and Karen Reid, 53, both residents at Fernways sheltered housing off Cecil Road, were stabbed to death on Saturday night.
Police officers were called to Fernways sheltered housing at 10.20pm following reports of an assault.
The man and the woman were found with stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene around 11pm.
Paul Mallin, 50, of Cecil Road, has been charged on suspicion of murder and will appear at the Old Bailey today.
