Detectives investigating a sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl in Ilford wish to identify a man in connection with the incident.

They have today released the image of the man and are urging anyone who recognises him to contact them.

The girl was sexually assaulted on November 25, 2016 at an address believed to be in Eastern Avenue, Ilford.

She is not from London and is being supported by specialist officers.

Detectives from the East Area Command’s Safeguarding team are investigating.

Det Con Monir Nainia, who is leading the investigation, said: “I am appealing to anyone who believes they recognise the man in the image to contact us. Similarly, if the person in the image recognises himself, he should also contact us.

“All our inquiries to identify the man in the image have not so far resulted in a positive identification, so we are hoping the public can help us.”

Anyone who can identify the man, or who has other information that may assist the investigation, is urged to call the East Area Safeguarding team on 101, or via Twitter @MetCC.
