A week-long focus on community policing saw the Met’s East Area team make a number of arrests.

The nationwide neighbourhood policing week of action, saw the force’s East Area Basic Command Unit – which covers Havering, Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham – focus on local ward priorities, with 24 arrests across the three boroughs.

Neighbourhood officers made arrests for a variety of offences including possession with intent to supply drugs, being drunk in charge of a vehicle, burglary, failing to appear at court and assault on an emergency worker.

They also conducted 97 stop and searches and carried out 73 weapons sweeps in open spaces.

The action week – which took place between January 17 and January 23 – was established to highlight the work local police community support officers, volunteer staff and local neighbourhood teams carry out across the country.
