A man wanted for questioning over a fatal pub shooting in Ilford was shot dead in the Caribbean, an inquest has heard.
Adrian Mcdonald Paul, whose last know UK address was Ilford, died in Soufriere, St Lucia, in 2008 from gunshot wounds, an assistant coroner found on Friday.
When the Metropolitan Police learnt of Mr Paul’s shooting, officers were looking to question the 29-year-old in connection with the unsolved murder of Clifford Coby.
The father-of-four, 26, was shot at the Red Lion Pub in Ilford Hill on August 10, 2005, after trying to intervene in a row.
Assistant coroner, Angela Hoades, said: “The medical cause of death was gunshot wounds to the chest.
“Mr Paul was found dead from these wounds on June 6, 2008.
“There’s no more information known about how he came by these gunshot wounds.
“There’s insufficient evidence to the necessary standard of proof which enables me to come to any substantive conclusion.”
Concluding the inquest at Walthamstow Coroners Court, Ms Hoades recorded an open verdict.
