Macmillan Cancer Support has teamed up with Redbridge, Barking and Havering University Hospitals NHS Trust to offer patients access to any financial help they might need.

The charity, which has been running the project at King George and Goodmayes Hospitals, both in Barley Lane, Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital, Romford, has agreed to fund it until December next year.

Divisional nurse director, Judith Douglas, said: “This service from Macmillan makes sure that people are aware of the benefits and grants they are entitled to and provides help with claiming them.”

Patients can be referred to the service by the doctors and nurses caring for them in hospital, but they can also contact the case-worker directly themselves.
