The killer of two Chigwell hoteliers has been jailed for a minimum of 26 years, but detectives are now calling for help to find two other men suspected of involvement in the brutal crime.

Ayub Khan, who was one of Scotland Yard’s most wanted men, was arrested in Bangladesh in August 2010 after initially fleeing to Pakistan following the killing of Amarjit Singh, 52 and his nephew Rajinder Singh, 35.

The men, of Lambourne Road, Chigwell were caught up in a parking dispute with Khan on August 29, 2003, at the rear of the Forest View Hotel in Forest Gate, which they owed.

Khan, of no fixed address but originally of Chigwell, had blocked Atherton Mews with his vehicle while attending a nearby mosque, and when the victims were unable to drive their van to the back of the hotel, they parked it across the mews blocking in Khan’s vehicle.

Following an argument, Khan returned with two other men and began to damage the van.

When they were confronted by Amarjit and Rajinder, Khan was seen to take a Mach 10 machine gun out of a bag and fire 10 rounds, killing both men.

Amarjit’s 26-year-old daughter was also present but escaped unharmed.

Det Insp Andrew Yeats of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command said: “They were callously murdered in the most appalling way, with the use of extreme violence beyond any comprehension.

“I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to their families for the dignified way in which they have handled such an incredibly difficult situation.

“They waited eight years for justice whilst Ayub Khan attempted to evade the authorities.”

Police are now appealing for help in tracking down two “casually dressed Asian men” wearing hooded tops and in their late teens or early twenties, who ran away from the scene during the busy period after Friday prayers.

The murder weapon has also yet to be found.

Anyone who can help is asked to phone 020 8345 1570, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
