Funky Mojoe applies for later hours to sell alcohol on public holidays
A South Woodford nightclub which has raised concerns among residents because of anti-social behaviour is seeking later hours to sell alcohol.
Funky Mojoe in High Road, South Woodford, has applied for four temporary event notices on nights including the August bank holiday and Christmas Day.
The application to Redbridge Council, covering August 27, October 29, December 25 and December 27, would allow the sale of alcohol and the provision of regulated entertainment and late night refreshment between midnight and 2am.
At a public meeting last month in South Woodford, neighbours of the venue spoke of problems around anti-social behaviour, litter and noise.
An application was made earlier this year for six event notices to allow the club to stay open until 3am but it was withdrawn.
Cllr Richard Hoskins, of Roding ward, said: “If these late night licences result in anti-social behaviour outside that’s a major concern again.”
David Jack, 46, of St Albans Road and a member of the Woodford Action Group, said: “It is clear that Funky Mojoe is not interested in the impact its business has on the lives of local families and that it is only interested in its business.”
