A Seven Kings couple coping with the loss of their daughter in a fall ruled suicide have been dealt another devastating blow by thieves who broke into their car.

Niall Maguire’s Ford Galaxy, which he uses for work as a taxi driver, was broken into on Monday, leaving the family with huge costs days before Christmas.

It has been a tragic year for the Maguire family, who lost 16-year-old Wendy when she fell from a bridge onto the A12 in January.

In May, mum Leila Maguire’s grandmother died, who had brought her up after her mother died in childbirth.

Then in November, a coroner ruled that Wendy committed suicide because she feared being punished for being drunk at school – a verdict her family strongly dispute.

Mrs Maguire, 50, said: “We can’t get to grips with what happened to us with Wendy.

“We are existing but we’re not really living.

“All this is making me want to sell up and move away, sometimes I just want to scream and scream.”

Christmas is muted this year at their home in Henley Road.

There is one tree instead of the lights and decorations of previous years.

Taxi driver Mr Maguire, 50, said he had only been working again for three weeks when his car was broken into.

Cologne that Wendy and sister Annie, 17, had given him as a present was taken along with cash, a sat nav and headrests with built-in televisions.

The callous thieves even stooped to taking the lollipops Mr Maguire kept for young passengers, wet wipes and a bottle of water.

The father-of-three is appealing for anyone who knows anything about the theft or saw something suspicious on the night to come forward.

He said: “I had just started working again after we lost Wendy and now they’ve gone and taken that all away from me.

“We were starting to get things together and had saved up for Christmas and now it’s ruined.

“The excess was 800, the insurance didn’t cover the inside of the car and I lost two nights of work.”

Mr Maguire said another taxi was broken into two weeks earlier in Henley Road but the owner did not report the theft to police.

His Ford Galaxy was broken into while parked on their drive at around 3am on December 17.

No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.
