A “stalwart” of the Redbridge Equalities and Community Council (RECC) was honoured for his tireless work at their general meeting last week.
People sat spell bound as Ralph Scott told of his time as a voluntary activist at the RECC at the United Reformed Church, Woodford Avenue, Gants Hill.
His story dated back to 1978 when the National Front was causing disturbances during the by-election in Ilford North.
Member of the RECC, David Landau, said: “Ralph, who is planning to leave Redbridge soon, has been a stalwart of the RECC and a vital pillar of the organisation. It will be difficult to know how we will get on without him.”
Mr Scott was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation, which acknowledges him as an honorary vice president and lifetime member of the RECC in recognition of his outstanding contributions.
