“I’m going to die” screamed a showbiz dwarf as he and his friends led police on a terrifying high speed chase driving straight into oncoming traffic.

Darius Ashard, 21, who played Snoozy alongside Priscilla Presley in pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, was a passenger in a stolen Vauxhall Astra.

The car was spotted in St Anthony’s Avenue, Woodford Green, and weaved through traffic to avoid the police. It took the wrong exit on to the A406, drove into oncoming traffic and caused drivers to swerve out of the way.

During the chase Ashard, of Madras Road, Ilford, yelled “I’m going to die, I’m going to die”, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard on Thursday.

Prosecutor Nadeem Holland said the car hit a red light at the junction of Chigwell Road towards Charlie Brown’s roundabout, Woodford Green.

Officers gave up the chase fearing someone could be killed but the occupants jumped out of the car and were caught moments later.

iPad app

Ashard admitted aggravated vehicle taking and handling stolen goods.

Police found the vehicle through an app on an iPad which had been stolen during a burglary by fellow passenger Nathan Pearce, 21, of Romford.

The car was driven by James Howsen, 22, of Hutton, Essex, who admitted aggravated vehicle taking and driving without insurance.

He was handed a six-month prison sentence and ordered to pay a £200 fine, as well as being disqualified for a year and given six penalty points.

Daniel Jerome, defending, said Ashard looked after a bag with stolen property out of friendship and asked to leave the car.

Ashard, who starred with Elvis’ ex-wife in the panto in Wimbledon, was handed a 12-month community order with 40 hours’ unpaid work.

Pearce will be sentenced for aggravated vehicle taking and two counts of burglary in March.
