An inspirational fundraiser and double amputee took part in the Lord Mayor’s Show alongside the Rotarians who granted her their first sports wheelchair.
Eleven-year-old Lydia Cross, who won the Rotary/Recorder Young Citizen Award 2010, featured in the Lord Mayor’s parade on Saturday.
Lydia, who was the recipient of the first sports wheelchair through the Rotary Wheel Appeal, was joined by Eve Conway, the first woman district governor of Rotary in London, and former Paralympian, Martin McElhatton, the CEO of WheelPower.
WheelPower, supported by the Rotary Club, aims to buy 2,012 racing chairs so that people with disabilities can compete and hopefully become future Paralympians.
