A director of nursing at a Woodford Green children’s hospice has been awarded for her commitment to improve the lives of children and young people with epilepsy.

Christine Twomey, from Haven House, in High Road, was presented with the Young Epilepsy Champion Award on behalf of charity, Young Epilepsy, at an event at City Hall in London last week.

She said: “I recognised that our treatment plans for the children with epilepsy were not as good as they could possibly be, so I did something about it.

“Haven House staff are now specially trained in epilepsy, the parents now empowered to ask professionals more questions. We have improved the quality of the children’s and young people’s care and now have the award to prove it.”
