A Chadwell Heath father has been found guilty of raping an 18-year-old girl he picked up off the street.

Nabeel Ahmed, 24, of Chadwell Heath Lane, was tried at Snaresbrook Crown Court with four friends who formed a suspected “sex ring” operating across Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham.

He bowed and shook his head as the verdicts were announced and then cried into his hands when being taken down.

The court heard Nabeel, who has a wife and son, took turns with the girl after plying her with drink and drugs.

The girl, who was 18 at the time, told the jury Nabeel offered her a lift after seeing her fighting with a friend shortly before midnight on May 1 last year.

Stifling tears, she said: “I needed to get away because I felt really scared.

“[My friend] had taken all my possessions and it seemed like the only option.”

She added: “I thought it was ok getting in because it felt like [the driver of the car] had been watching.

“I felt quite comfortable because he said what he saw and asked if I was ok and asked where I wanted to go.”

But instead of taking the girl to a train station, Nabeel, drove her to a house in Chadwell Heath where they met Anas Iqbal, of Newham Way, East Ham, Naeem Ahmed, of Westminster Gardens, and Hassan Raza, also of Westminster Gardens.

In recorded video evidence played in court, she told how Naeem, 25, and Nabeel came into the bedroom they had given her for the night and got into her bed.

When she tried to get up and cried, they pulled her back down and told her to shut up, she said.

She was then allegedly raped by Naeem, then Nabeel, then Naeem again.

Shaking, she said: “I had been crying, I felt violated, I felt like absolute s**t.

“I felt dirty and disgusting, I just wanted to go home and have a wash.

“I just wanted to get away from everybody but I felt like I couldn’t do anything about the matter and I was panicking and waiting for it to be over.”

In the morning, Raza appeared to offer sympathy to the girl before attempting to molest her.

Naeem and Nabeel, who are not related, were found guilty of rape and Raza was found guilty of sexual assault.

The trio will be sentenced on 11 September. Judge Martyn Zeidman told the men they will face lengthy prison sentences.

He said: “What happened to the girl was terrible and she will never forget it.

“These were girls that were so utterly vulnerable and it is a shame that in 2013 we still have these serious problems.”

Naeem, Nabeel and his brother Jameel Ahmed, of Neville Road, Dagenham, were aquitted of raping an alleged teenage prostitute in an Ilford hotel.

Naeem was also found not guilty of inciting, controlling and paying for the services of child prostitutes.

Iqbal, 26, was found not guilty of five of seven charges but could face a retrial after the jury failed to reach a verdict on charges of rape and attempted rape of two further girls.
