A Barkingside supermarket has presented its charity partner with £500, thanks to sales of the store’s Bag for Life.
Sainsbury’s, Tanners Lane, presented the cheque to Redbridge Concern for Mental Health, Ilford Lane, Ilford, enabling them to take 52 of their clients on a day trip to Cambridge.
The Sainsbury’s Community Grant scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is funded by sales of Bags for Life.
Barkingside’s store manager, Chris Wager, said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it.
“We are really pleased to be able to help out our charity partner of the year to hire a coach and take some of their clients on a day trip, who would maybe not be able to enjoy such a treat.”
