A 79-year-old woman had �250 stolen after opening her front door to an imposter.
The man, described as being about 65-years-old and wearing a long white Sikh religious outfit and turban, approached the house yesterday at about 8.15am.
The Asian male who was about 5ft 7in said he was collecting money to buy food for a charity.
The woman went inside her house in The Drive, Ilford, to get the man some money and he followed her. She offered him �10 but the man said she needed to wash her hands before giving him the money. When she returned from doing this, she saw the man taking money from her purse and he left with a total of �250.
