Anti-social litter bugs across Redbridge may want to re-think their bad habits as it’s revealed one rubbish dropping resident is facing a fine of more than £500.
Abid Ahmed of Thompson Close, Ilford, was seen dropping a plastic bottle by PC Adrian Towler on May 17 and was given a fixed penalty notice of £80 for littering.
Mr Ahmed didn’t pay the initial fine and the case was brought before Romford Magistrate’s Court on December 6 where Mr Ahmed, who didn’t show up, was prosecuted by Redbridge Council.
He was found guilty in his absence and fined £200, along with a £20 victim surcharge and £287.50 in court costs, amounting to a total fine of £507 for dropping a bottle.
