Musical Redbridge youngsters are set to benefit from a grant of nearly £50,000 towards workshops and choirs.
Charity Youth Music is awarding the funding to the North East London Music Education Hub, which combines Redbridge and Waltham Forest music services.
More than 600 children in the two boroughs will be recruited to two new choirs from open workshops using the money.
The groups will train in a range of genres, including beatboxing, gospel, jazz and blues, before singing in concerts at local venues at the Royal Albert Hall.
Eric Forder, head of the hub said: “We are very excited about this funding because it will enable children and young people in Redbridge and Waltham Forest to work in partnership with a range of professional musicians and to take part in singing across a wide range of music styles and genres.”
The grant is part of a batch totalling £929,000 for projects from opera to hip-hop.
