Police are appealing for information after an Ilford man was threatened with a knife and beaten in a violent mugging on a Tube train.
British Transport Police (BTP) said the 29-year-old man was standing on a Central Line train at around 11.45pm on August 4 when two men approached him.
Investigating officer Det Sgt Lisa Baptiste said: “One of the men asked for his mobile phone before threatening to stab him.
“When the victim left the train at Bethnal Green Underground station one of the men grabbed him and hit him.”
Officers have released two images of men they would like to speak to in relation to the investigation.
BTP is currently running an operation aiming to reduce theft at train and Tube stations.
If you recognise the men or have any information, call BTP on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference B7/LUA of 03/09/13. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
