A Woodford Green man has been charged by police with taking part in a violent armed robbery in Kent that left the victim seriously injured.

Stephan Allen, 24, of Rosebury Square, was charged by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate in relation to the incident, which took place in Maidstone on March 16.

Police were called to a house at 3.30am and a man in his 30s was treated at the scene for serious injuries and taken to a London hospital for further medical attention.

Detectives subsequently arrested three men and charged them with conspiracy to commit robbery and with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.

Allen, who has been remanded in custody, will appear alongside one other man at Maidstone Crown Court on August 24.
