An Ilford man is facing jail after he was found guilty of attempted murder when he shot a 22-year-old man in the back outside Loxford Park.

Joshan Addison, 19, of Thornton Road, Ilford, blasted Rhys Bryin with a shotgun as he attempted to flee the scene in front of horrified families in August last year.

Addison – known by the name “Monster” – had claimed that the brutal attack had been carried out in self defence but the jury rejected this.

An 11-year-old, who had been playing in the park with his family after purchasing his school uniform, was injured after a stray pellet struck his cheek.

Today, at Snaresbrook Crown Court, a jury convicted him for attempted murder for the shooting of Mr Bryin, and wounding with intent for the injured boy.

Ali Sheikh, 23, of Buttsbury Road, Ilford, was found guilty of assisting Addison , and a 17-year-old boy from Ilford was acquitted on this charge.

The teenage boy had previously pleaded guilty to one count of assisting an offender, after he was present with Addison whilst he burnt his clothes after the shooting.

A fourth defendant, Jabir Mohammed, 22, of Cobham Road, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of assisting an offender earlier in the trial.

Sentencing will take place at Snaresbrook Crown Court on June 30.
