A car being chased by the police ploughed through a two-year-old’s bedroom in Gants Hill.
Rochelle Boudissa-Curtis, 32, was feeding her 10-day old baby in her living room while her child was getting pyjamas from her bedroom in Ashurst Drive.
Seconds later a car crashed into their house on Tuesday, November 1, sending debris flying around the property.
“We were all in the living room and were getting the kids ready for bed,” she said.
“I was feeding the baby and my husband asked our daughter to go and get her pyjamas.
“She was walking into the bedroom when we heard this very big blast - I can’t quite describe it. I can’t even remember my first reactions.”
It soon became apparent that a car had driven through the front of the family’s home, crashing through two walls.
“It was a very frightening sight - just to think our daughter was seconds away from being in there,” she added.
“The size of the bricks flying around could have killed an elephant.
“We haven’t been able to check the damage properly as there is glass everywhere.”
As well as the front of the house being demolished, the family said there is a big crack in their home and they have no running water or heating.
Their landlord has offered them a room in their own house while everything is getting sorted.
“The whole thing is beyond belief,” Rochelle added.
“Even if the house is rebuilt, which could take a long time, I am not sure I will feel comfortable sleeping there.
“I know the chances of it happening again are small, but cars always speed around there.
“Our daughter is doing ok and is excited about sleeping over somewhere new.
“She thankfully doesn’t really know what happened - kids are incredibly resilient.”
A Met Police spokesman confirmed police were following a car which refused to stop.
