The government’s health watchdog has been inspecting King George Hospital in Goodmayes after a catalogue of risks were found.
Monitoring by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) flagged up problems with infectious disease mortality, some surgical procedures, A&E waiting times and patient experiences at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT).
A total of 20 risks were found, including education concerns and feedback from patients’ friends and family.
The trust also runs Queen’s Hospital in Romford, which was inspected along with King George last week.
A breakdown of risks found at each hospital was not available.
Deputy medical director Stephen Burgess said the trust was “confused” about the watchdog’s infectious disease mortality findings.
He added: “We have asked the CQC to clarify what this refers to, but have not yet had a response.”
When the trust looked into possible conditions, including TB and HIV, mortality rates were “extremely good”, he added.
There have been no cases of MRSA in this financial year.
