Councillors came out in force to celebrate the frame completion of a new housing development in Ilford on Friday (October 20). The Paragon project, Ilford Hill, will create 141 flats- 36 of which will be offered at an affordable rent and 105 offered under shared ownership.

Ten per cent of units will be constructed to “wheelchair adaptable standards”.

Cllr Jas Athwal, council leader said: “This scheme forms an important part of our regeneration plans for Ilford town centre, supporting the mayor’s Housing Zone aspirations and providing 100pc affordable homes for our residents.

“I congratulate Swan Housing on this effort and look forward to future developments”

Further works, including the commercial unit, which will house the Marketing Suite, are planned for completion early next year.

John Synnuck, Swan’s chief executive said he was delighted to celebrate the progress of the development.

“Regeneration of The Paragon will provide much needed high-quality new homes for the borough, together with improved communal areas including play equipment for children,” he said.

Cllr Linda Huggett, Mayor of Redbridge said: “It is fantastic to see new quality homes being built in Ilford.

“This coupled with the Elizabeth line rail project will bring new vitality to what was a bustling town centre.”
