A bid for more than £4million for new transport projects in Redbridge will be made next week.

Redbridge Council’s neighbourhoods and communities service committee is set to discuss the council’s Local Implementation Plan (LIP) bid on Wednesday.

The plan is submitted to Transport for London (TfL) every year in a bid to fund projects across the borough.

This year Redbridge plans to bid for more than £4m funding for projects to take place from 2015/16.

Proposals include spending £1.4m on streetscene environmental and highway enhancements, £803,000 on road renewal, £1m on bridge strengthening and assessment, £474,000 on accident remediation, £185,000 on school travel plans, £109,000 on travel awareness initiatives, £70,000 on bus stop accessibility improvements and £50,000 on cycle parking at stations.

Cllr Baldesh Nijjar, cabinet member for environment, said: “We know that residents want a highways network that is robust and as safe and as convenient as possible.

“We are constantly working hard to achieve these high standards and the proposals going to committee represent a range of important projects that we believe will make the borough a better, safer place to travel in. “
