A popular police officer moving on to pastures new has been given a fitting send-off by the community.

Goodmayes residents held a leaving party for Sgt Seamus Hansford, who has been re-assigned after serving the area for three years.

He was joined at the event by Cllr Barbara White, the mayor of Redbridge, and members of GRASS (Goodmayes Residents’ Association).

Cllr White said: “He’s going to be greatly missed. He’s been an asset to the community and nothing’s been too much for him – whatever we have asked of him he’s done.”

Keith Stanbury, the resident association’s chairman, added: “For three years he has led his team tirelessly, despite major upheavals in the Met, and his knowledge and experience of the local ‘scene’ will be greatly missed.”
