Clayhall residents evacuated after ‘grenade’ found

Clayhall residents were evacuated from their homes when a suspected grenade was discovered.

Police were called at 10.09am on Monday, (March 26) to a residential address on Dovedale Avenue.

A police spokesman said: “Officers, including specialist officers, attended.

“Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, and nearby roads were closed.

“The grenade was assessed and found to be an empty shell.”
