A driver was injured and had his car stolen while delivering packages in Clayhall.

Police were called 9.11pm on Wednesday, July 25 to reports of a robbery on Stafford Avenue.

Officers attended and found a victim, in his 50s suffering from multiple injuries.

He was taken to an east London hospital by the London Ambulance Service and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A Met Police spokesman said: “It is believed that shortly before police were called, the victim witnessed a male suspect attempting to steal his car.

“When the victim tried to intervene, the suspect assaulted him and drove off.

“The suspect made off from the scene and the vehicle was found abandoned by officers in Chalgrove Crescent a short while later.”

Police said they are investigating the incident and inquiries continue to trace the suspect.

No arrests have been made.
