Residents of a quiet Woodford Green street, who hardly knew each other before the pandemic, created an original
sing-along for their weekly clap for carers.

Last Thursday the residents of Glebe Avenue got together and sang an original song entitled “What shall we do with coronavirus?” to the
tune of “What shall we do with the drunken sailor?”

Keeping a safe social distance of at least two metres the residents danced and sang along to the lyrics: “Hooray for the critical workers... your hands for 20 seconds...if you can then stay at home!”

The lead singer/songwriter is Charlie Richardson who set up a microphone and guitar in the middle of the street to perform the song while
his neighbours all sang along.

Janakan Crofton said: “It’s a great example of the lifting of community spirit in light of the pandemic and at the same time showing our appreciation to all those on the front line.”
