Two young children narrowly escaped serious injury today after a collision with a motorcycle as they crossed the busy A12 Eastern Avenue.

The woman crossed the road, near Aldborough Road North, Newbury Park with the two children, one of whom was in a pushchair, when they collided with a “slow moving” motorbike at 8.45am this morning. While the pedestrians were not badly hurt the motorcycle rider, a man in his 30s, was taken to Queens Hospital, Romford, with a wrist injury.

One motorist, who saw the accident, said: “It was really lucky the motorbike was going so slowly, or somebody could have been killed.”
