Youngsters on the Orchard Estate in Broadmead Road were given lessons with professional artist Zaman Mohammed during their half-term holidays.

Their works are now being displayed on hoardings throughout the estate, surrounding ongoing engineering works to revamp its heating system.

An exhibition was held on Tuesday, attended by Roding councillors Felicity Banks, Ian Bond and Gwyneth Deakins.

Twenty-five young people took part in the week-long project with Mr Mohammed.

Cllr Deakins said: “I thought it was brilliant and I loved the pictures.

“There was a lot of talent waiting for an opportunity to be shown.

“It was good to meet the children.”

The paintings will remain on the hoardings for the remainder of the works, due to last until May.

Following that, the children could take them home or they could be displayed in the estate’s community hall.
