More than 100 parents, staff and former pupils of Chigwell School took part in a half marathon, raising over £70,000 for charity.
Running for Cancer Research UK, the team from the school in High Road, Chigwell, raced around the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon with 16,000 other runners on Sunday.
Starting and finishing in Hyde Park, central London, the run took a scenic route past Green Park, St James’s Park, the Houses of Parliament, and Buckingham Palace.
School development manager Gill Punt said: “The adventurous team rose to the challenge magnificently with all completing the race in the glorious sunshine.
“Aching legs but beaming smiles were the order of the day.”
The £70,000 donated is almost double what the school raised last year.
Poppy Spencer, from Cancer Research UK, thanked the runners for their efforts.
She said: “We are absolutely delighted that the team from Chigwell School has decided to attempt such a great challenge to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.”
