Accountant Nancy Jones, who trains at the David Lloyd gym, in Roding Lane, Chigwell, will be flexing her muscles in front of the film star at his bodybuilding event, the Arnold Classic.

Nancy, 25, told the Recorder she was “nervous” about performing in front of Arnie.

“It’s always that point when you are about to step onto stage when the nerves come,” she said.

Nancy started training when she was 16 at her dad’s gym Physicals Fitness Club, in High Road, Woodford Green.

“I really got into fitness and thought why don’t I make something out of it,” she explained.

“As I was training I noticed my physique improving quickly and that was really motivating.”

Nancy started taking part in bodybuilding competitions two years ago, but performing in front of Arnie is her biggest event to date.

She said: “I was really nervous before my first show, because I’d never shown myself off like that before, but when I was on stage I absolutely loved it.”

And what do her friends and family make of her slightly unusual hobby, made famous by the film star in the 1960s and 70s.

“They’re really supportive especially with my diet, I have to eat more than 2,500 calories a day before events and still shed fat,” she added.
