More than 350 people, including Ilford North MP Wes Streeting, gathered at Hainault Forest Country Park, Romford Road, Chigwell, for the fundraising walk held by Om Sharavanabhava Seva Trust.

Leading the walk was Sadhguru Sri Sharavana Baba – a guru heading the organisation – alongside Newbury’s Cllr Thavathuray Jeyaranjan.

Money raised from the event will also go towards Woodlands Trust, which looks after the park.

Vijay Vijaishankar, from the charity, said: “We are over the moon. Our first charity walk went really well. Our members and supporters helped to raise much needed funds for a worthy cause.

“Baba’s mission has been growing over the last decade all over the world. His charity aims to transform the lives of the poor through relief aid, food distribution and free education.”

Money raised from the event is still being counted. Find out more about the charity at omsharavanabhavamatham.org
