More than 40 golfers attended the inaugural event in aid of Hatton School at Woolston Manor Golf and Country Club in Chigwell.

The event has raised £2,350 for the primary school, in Roding Lane South, so far but organisers are hoping that figure will rise.

Organiser Gulnawaz Yasin said: “The facilities the school has are very good but it is never enough to meet the needs of the children.

“The swings will mean a great deal for the children having these outdoor facilities; it will help the staff put together activities which will help the children improve their communication skills.”

Many of 147 pupils have complex learning difficulties caused by autism, social and communication issues.

Mr Yasin said he hopes that the event can raise money for the primary school every year.

He added: “Hatton School governors and event organisers would like to thank everyone attending for their generosity and support.”
