Spectators were able to sit back and enjoy a glass of Pimms with some scones and cream while enjoying a charity cricket match recently.

The match, at Fives and Heronians Cricket Club in Green Lane, Chigwell, held raised vital funds for children’s charity Banardo’s.

Carl Hurst, Barnardo’s team captain, said: “It was a great opportunity to have some competitive fun while raising money for a fantastic cause. All of the team enjoyed it and we are grateful to the Fives and Heronians for taking part and giving us a great match.”

Javed Khan, chief executive of Barnardo’s, said: “Every day the UK’s most vulnerable children benefit from the life-changing support we offer thanks to the generosity of our supporters.

“Every penny we raise will help us to be there for children and families, now and always. The cricket match was just one of the many ways that people are able to get involved with us in our 150th year.”
