A pair in the party mood celebrated their birthdays in style with a carnival-inspired celebration at their care home.

Carol Segal, 73, and David Ndwiga, 75, who live at the George Davis Lodge Extra Care Housing Scheme, Veronique Gardens, Barkingside, dressed the part – feathers and all – before dance group Paracarnival put on a Brazilian-inspired performance for the residents.

Carol and David blew out the candles on their cake before guests ate, drank and boogied the afternoon away.

“It went really well,” said the home’s operational manager Jo Lincoln. “They really enjoyed themselves.

“When it’s their birthdays we ask them what they would like to do and David really like his Caribbean music, so we got the dancers to come in.”

She added: “David really likes to party!”
