Bus hits schoolgirl, 12, in Ilford Lane

A 12-year-old girl was injured in a road traffic accident involving a bus in Ilford Lane, Ilford, earlier today.

The London Ambulance service was called at 8.07am swiftly followed by police.

The girl was treated at the scene and her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Road closures from Wingate Road, including Khartoum Road and Vine Gardens, were in place while the emergency services dealt with the incident and have now been reopened.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance service said: “We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance, arriving within five minutes

“We treated a child at the scene for chest, hip and leg injuries and took her as a priority to hospital by road ambulance.”

A spokeswoman for the police said: “No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.”
