Burglars armed with hammer and knife ransack Chigwell home

Burglars armed with a knife and a hammer ransacked a house yesterday afternoon.

Police are appealing for information following the incident in Lambourne Road, Chigwell, between 3.30pm and 3.45pm.

The two burglars threatened a man living in the house, aged in his 50s, before taking items of jewellery, damaging furniture and turning on the water – partially flooding the house.

The victim was left “shaken” but uninjured.

One of the suspects is described as Asian, about 5ft 6in tall, of medium build, about 35-years-old, with a moustache and medium length hair which was swept back. He was wearing a black round-neck t-shirt and blue jeans.

The other man is described as white, about 6ft tall, of large build, between 35 and 40-years-old, with blonde short hair. He was wearing a white shirt with black trousers and was carrying a black holdall bag. He may have been wearing gloves.
