A burglar left his blood at the scene after he cut himself while smashing into the Co-op in South Woodford.

Police were called at around 4.45am today (Monday, August 6) to reports of a burglary at the supermarket in George Lane.

Officers went to the scene and spoke to a man who saw another man running from the scene.

The burglar was described as being white, six foot tall and slim build wearing a dark rain jacket, black trousers and black shoes.

South Woodford Police Tweeted and said that the burglar smashed his way into the store, but left some of his blood behind.

According to police this had been taken for forensic examination.

No-one has been arrested and police are still making enquiries about the incident.
