Building of new Seven Kings school underway after first brick laid
PUBLISHED: 16:15 05 December 2014
The transformation of a trolleybus depot into a 840-place school began yesterday.
The first brick was laid for the new Seven Kings Primary School, which will be situated at the junction of Ley Street and Perth Road.
Redbridge’s mayor, Cllr Ashley Kissin, attended the ceremony at the site, along with Kate Beaumont, who will be the headteacher.
Plans for the school were approved last year with a view to it opening in September 2015. Once pupils finish their primary education, they will move on automatically to Seven Kings High School.
The historic depot housed trolleybuses which ran in Ilford from the 1930s to the 1960s.
