More than 20 firefighters are tackling a blaze in Ley Street, Ilford this afternoon.
The fire, originally reported as a fence alight, has had its severity upgraded.
Crews from Ilford, Hainault and Barking and Dagenham are now at the scene.
It is not clear at this stage whether it is a house or other type of property that is on fire.
