BREAKING NEWS: Fire breaks out at Pioneer Point, Ilford

More than 20 firefighters tackled a blaze which broke out on the 9th floor of the Pioneer Point development in Winston Way today.

Crews from Ilford, Hainault and Plaistow were called just before 11am and found the fire and a build up of smoke further up the tower, on the 14th floor.

The fire is now extinguished and workers have been sent home.

One man, who was leaving the building site, told the Recorder: “I think it was caused by an electrician.”
