Parking restrictions needs to be changed according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) who are urging London boroughs to improve the situation to ensure struggling shops have a future.
The FSB are asking councils to think about the damage that parking increases and lack of footfall does to the local economy.
Government figures showed in 2011 that the five councils with the biggest parking surpluses were councils in London.
They are calling for boroughs to share the best practice and work together to come up with a London-wide loading/unloading timeframe to give businesses more certainty that they will not face a fine.
