A book celebrating local shopkeepers in Wanstead and Woodford and the role they play in the community is being launched on Sunday.
Shelf Life, by Mike Edwards, contains three years of interviews with 41 people in Wanstead, Woodford and Chingford.
He said: “Some thought they had nothing of interest to say but without fail, that has never been the case.
“Some have come from unprivileged backgrounds and have made a good life for themselves.
“Others have led intriguing lives.”
Mike will be signing copies on Sunday at The Village Bookshop in High Road, Woodford Green.
There will be wine and nibbles at the event from 1-4pm.
