A soldier who was killed on duty in Afghanistan has been repatriated.

Lieutenant Daniel Clack, of Woodford Green died on Friday after an explosion 150m from the entrance to the checkpoint he commanded.

His body was flown into the RAF base at Lyneham and passed through Wootton Bassett yesterday afternoon.

Lieutenant Clack’s family said he died doing the only profession he ever considered while the Ministry of Defence described him as a man of integrity and driven by doing the right thing.

Five other members of 1st Battalion The Rifles were injured by the improvised explosive device during a patrol in the village of Dactran.
