A Chelmsford Bishop is inviting residents to reflect on their beliefs by joining him on a walk from Barkingside to Becontree.

Bishop Stephen Cottrell will set off on an eight mile walk from Holy Trinity Church, in Mossford Green, Barkingside, to St Mary’s Church, in Grafton Road, at 8am on Wednesday, May 23.

“A missionary journey is a chance to slow down, take life at a gentle pace and enjoy a good chat,” he said.

“I am looking forward to chatting with people as we walk along together.

He added: “For most people becoming a Christian is like a journey.

“It is not a journey we make all at once or on our own but more like a walk we take step by step in the company of others.

Since 2014, Bishop Cottrell has led 25 walks and covered about 300 miles.

The walk will finish at about 3pm and includes tea.
