A Barkingside supermarket is inviting customers to recycle their Christmas cards and will in turn make donations to the Forest Stewardship Council.
Sainsbury’s in Tanners Lane has a Christmas card recycling bin in place until Tuesday (January 15).
A donation will be made to the not-for-profit group, which promotes responsible management of the world’s forests, based on the volume of cards received.
The store also offers facilities to recycle Christmas wrapping paper, cardboard, batteries, aluminium, glass and plastic.
Manager Chris Wager said: “We know that our customers care about the environment and reducing their impact on landfill so we’re providing really simple and hassle-free ways for them to live more sustainably and recycle their Christmas-waste once the holidays are over”.
