A Barkingside-based square dance club marked its 61st anniversary with a special event with both past and current members coming together to celebrate.
Lister Square Dance Club hosted the event at the Holy Trinity Church, Mossford Green, Barkingside, last week, encouraging people to learn the unusual dance which dates back to the seventeenth century.
Member, Margaret Brown, said: “Over sixty people came to dance and we had a very enjoyable time. It was lovely to catch up with old friends, some of whom came from as far as Bedford.
“John Webb, president of the British Association of Square Dance Clubs, came all the way from Leicestershire to join in the celebrations too.”
The club meets every Tuesday at 8pm at Fullwell Cross Library, High Street, Barkingside. Everyone welcome. For more information please call 020 8529 1602 or email regandmargaret@hotmail.com.
