Residents fear that the Chequers Pub, Barkingside, may have closed down amid reports that its doors have been shut for more than a week.
Ravi Panesar, 37, had been running the Sing Song club at the pub every two months for the past two years.
“About two weeks ago I remember driving past it and all the lights were turned off,” he said.
Ravi said he was friends with Matthew Todd, the fomer director of Opus Bars which owns the pub.
“It just failed to take off,” Ravi added.
“It is just a shame because there was a real local community.
“It’s a real loss to everyone.”
When approached for comment, Mr Todd told the Recorder that he left the business in July this year and that he has no information about the recent closure.
According to Companies House, Opus Bars Limited continues to have two directors - Shaun Bunting and Sandra Naik - who were both appointed in March 2015.
Residents group Barkinside21 held a regular meeting at the pub but has had to move venue.
“The doors are shut, that’s all we know. It’s been like that for a week now,” said chairman Alan Howe.
“No one has told us anything.” He said there appears to be no signs on the pub about the closure.
Multiple messages and comments lamenting the closure of the pub were posted on the business’s Facebook page at the end of last month.
The Chequers Pub has not responded to the Recorder’s requests for comment on Monday.
